Everyone we come across in the book world has a favorite place to buy leather, book board, glue, scissors, linen thread and many other little doodahs we use for making books. There are also special places that have cards, shells, beads, feathers, hemp fabric, tapes and all the little devices we can't live without for our books. McManus Morgan - 7th St across from McArthur Park in Los Angeles. The oldest, most venerable paper supplier in Los Angeles. The shop hasn't changed in 50 years. They have an extraordinary selection and know all about the properties of the papers they sell.
Hiromi Japanese Papers - Bergamont Station, 26th Ave, Santa Monica. (310)998-0098     Beautiful store, beautiful papers and prices that allow you to appreciate the labor that made them.
Violet's Rubber Stamp Inn - 2692 Loma Vista Road, Ventura, CA 93003 (805) 648-7610. Beside all the usual stamping supplies, you can find a small selection of art papers, books, and some bookmaking supplies. The best part are the classes and workshops on book making. Instructors come there from all over the country.
